Essential Functions

• Understanding of engineering principles related to sensor electronics
• Design of filter circuits for EMI, EMC and electrical transients
• Circuit board layout capability
• Design to meet performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost targets.
• Evaluate, select, and apply appropriate technology and components.
• Involvement in mechanical and materials design, as well as manufacturing process design
• Analyze, design, and develop conventional analog and digital circuits as required. Demonstrate and document product and circuit robustness using computer simulations, conventional analysis and standard testing methodologies.
• Fabrication or hand crafting of prototypes
• Conduct design reviews
• Write and analyze test plans, conduct design tests and evaluate test results.
• Prepare and maintain product documentation, including data sheets, instruction manuals, project notebooks, design and test documentation.
• Provide and maintain accurate product cost estimates. Provide basic labor estimates. Generate and maintain accurate Bills of Material.
• Provide and maintain accurate project plans. Manages and/or leads projects of moderate to high complexity. Coordinate engineering activities with purchasing and manufacturing. Directs the efforts of associate engineers and technicians.

• Demonstrated working knowledge of magnetic design principals
• Demonstrated knowledge of Hall Effect, MR, VR (variable reluctance) principles and designs
• Demonstrated knowledge of quality system requirements, including ISO 9001
• Demonstrated knowledge of requirements for intrinsically safe product certifications – e.g. ATEX, IECEx, CSA
• Knowledge of and prior work experience with design, development, and test engineering of sensor products.
• High level of analytical ability and statistical analysis where problems are unusual and difficult.
• Good oral and written skills and effective communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.
• Good problem solving and communication skills.
• PC board layout, modeling or development software experience. OrCad experience a plus
• AutoCad or similar experience
• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, 10-15 years’ experience in sensor design or R&D
